Natural Skin Care Ingredients For Sensitive Skin

aloe stem to be used in sensitive skin care productsDo you have sensitive skin?  Skin that’s very reactive, turns red, and can break out easily?  Often associated with Rosacea, sensitive skin can only be cared for with certain skin care ingredients.  In fact, many formulations can actually exacerbate sensitivities and increase redness, inflammation, and breakouts.

Natural skin care ingredients though can  provide a myriad of benefits for those with sensitive skin  withOUT any of these negative side effects.  This is because nature creates medicines that work powerfully yet gently.

Some of the natural skin care ingredients those with sensitive skin should look for include:

Essential Herbs/Oils:   Rose, Neroli, Geranium

Base Ingredients:  Aloe Vera,  Jojoba Oil, Kukui Nut Oil, Liquid Crystal

Actives:   MSM, Vitamin E, Panthenol (B5), Tremella Hyaluronic (mushroom derived), Shiitake Mushroom, Niacinimide (B3)

Botanicals:  Red Tea, Rose, Neroli,  Green Tea, Neem, Amalaki, Goji Berry, Pomegranate, Licorice Root

When you use natural,  non toxic skin care products on sensitive skin you’ll find the results you’ve always dreamed of without making any of your symptoms worse in any way.  In fact, we’ve heard of many people who actually switch to 100% natural skin care products and find that their sensitives reappear much less frequently or even disappear all together!

Don’t take our word for it though – see for yourself!  Sevani offers a wide variety of TOTALLY natural skin care products and even a skin care system for those with Rosacea and sensitive skin.

What Are Peptides And How Can They Create Firmer, Younger Looking Skin?

Everyone wants their skin to stay firm, smooth and youthful looking for as long as possible.  But, skin sagging is a challenge that all of us will face eventually.

As we age, our skin is depleted of collagen and elastin resulting in wrinkled and loose skin. Non-surgical options are limited to skin care procedures and products, but, what really works?

Studies show that one secret possibility is a newer family of ingredients known as “peptides.”

Which brings us to our first question – What are peptides?

Basically, peptides are chains of amino acids that are less than 50 acids long.  Amino acid chains more than 50 are considered to be proteins. So basically, peptides are portions of proteins.

There are 20 peptides known to be already present in the human body. All of these direct body cells in specific manners depending on the specific type of peptide it is….which brings us to our second question  – How can Peptides create firmer, younger looking skin?

When peptides are used in skin care products like Sevani, the ones selected direct skin cells to behave certain ways such as producing more collagen for example – which will then serve to thicken, firm and tighten skin.

When peptide skin care products are used they should be applied on the neck, jowls and nasal labial folds where most of the sagging on our faces occurs.  Peptides can be helpful around the eyes and forehead as well to help prevent and reduce lines and wrinkles.

Another reason peptides are so effective when incorporated into skin care products is that our body already produces peptides naturally.  However, as we age our body produces less and less until its unable to produce peptides itself at all.

Also, peptides have a small molecule which makes them able to penetrate skin cells more easily for even better results.

One additional piece of important info: When selecting skin care products for their use of peptides be sure to remember one very important thing – These ingredients are very expensive resulting in more costly (yet often incredibly effective) facial products. If you come across inexpensive peptide skin care products -  you may not be getting high enough percentages for the ingredients to have enough power to be truly effective.

Make The Holiday Season Bright For Animals Too By Donating To Rescue Orgs.

Cat with presents for Holiday giving back to animal rescuesWhat an amazing time of year!  There are so many occasions to celebrate the “Season of Giving” – Hanukkah, The Winter Solstice, Christmas, Kwanza.  At times though it can seem that this season of the year has become quite commercialized.  In an effort to honor this special time of year just a bit more authentically,  my family and I have our own special tradition.

I’m incredibly fortunate to have a family that doesn’t desperately need anything.  More important then any material gift for a birthday or Holiday were the pets that my mom allowed us to have.  Our pets were always adopted from the SPCA or via an auction for a good cause.  Supporting animals is the motivation behind Sevani and my long time skin care studio.  We’ve  always been about making people feel better while giving back to support animal welfare.

So, this Holiday, we donate to local animal rescues on behalf of our family members instead of giving  gifts.  My husband, myself, and my mom have spent and continue to spend our Holiday giving back, vs just giving.

We gave some love to the critters at the shelter, made our donations of food, blankets, toys, and the always needed cash – then thanked the staff for all their hard work and dedication to our furry friends.  With what we’d normally spend on store bought gifts for everyone we were actually able to go to several different area shelters to make donations!

Its been a really neat change and will be a tradition we keep for many Holidays to come.

Whether you want to make your entire Holiday season about giving to others like this or, even if you have old towels, stuffed animals, pet beds, can buy a simple toy, or just have a bit of time to stop by and pet the shelter pets -  you can make a HUGE difference in the lives of animals by supporting a rescue in this way.

Also, if you buy Sevani products – you are supporting our work with animals too since a percentage of our profits always go to the animal welfare organizations we work with.

And remember, if someone you know is buying a new pet for the Holidays (or any time of the year) its far better to rescue a pet when so many are desperate to be in a warm and loving home.

Blessings and Happy Holidays!

Antioxidants Offer Amazing Anti Aging Support!

antioxidants are anti agingFree radicals are everywhere, including the air we breathe.  What do free radicals have to do with your skin?  Everything!

You see, free radicals are unstable compounds that attack human cells and DNA, which contributes to and accelerate the aging process increasing the prominence of signs of aging in skin such as wrinkles, dry skin, dark circles under eyes, etc.

This is where Antioxidants come in.  Antioxidants essentially work as free radical scavengers to help prevent damage and even repair cells the free radicals have already gotten to.

Where can you get Antioxidants?

Eating lots of fresh organic fruits and vegetables is an excellent way to help reduce and even prevent free radical damage.

While the foods work on the inside and protect  your entire body from free radical damage, you can directly affect free damage to your skin by using natural skin care products that utilize ingredients that include antioxidants.  For example ingredients like Acai Berry, Amalaki Fruit, Vitamin E, Argan Oil,  Rosemary Oil Extract, Vitamin C Ester, Sea Buckthorn Berries, and more offer all the benefits of antioxidants in natural, easily absorbed formulas.!

By applying them directly to skin the antioxidants in skin care products can deeply penetrate underneath to strengthen skin cells and keep them healthy. Antioxidants in skin care products can improve the health and appearance of skin, as well as prevent accelerated aging by firming, plumping and reducing inflammation in the skin.

Antioxidants also have been found to  reduce the appearance of scar tissueMany types of antioxidants, including those found in aloe and an onion extract called allium, increase blood flow to scar tissue thereby minimizing the look of the scars and helping the newly formed skin blend in more easily.

In addition, the fact that antioxidants can stimulate blood flow and encourage the growth of new cells make them highly effective in improving the health and appearance of skin that’s been damaged by the sun.

I think you can agree, it’s time to be sure you’re including antioxidants in your diet, and in your day and night time skin care routine so you too can benefit from all the anti aging power and support hey give your body and your skin!

Having A Night Time Skin Care Routine Is A MUST – Find Out Why

moon for night time skin care routineMany find washing, toning and moisturizing their skin in the morning is really no trouble.  They’re getting ready for the day anyway and adding in these steps to reap the benefits of their chosen skin care system fits in pretty seamlessly.  Night time skin care though is a different story.

Dragging yourself to the sink for a cleanse after nearly passing out on the couch watching TV, reading your favorite book – or whatever it is you do to unwind after a long busy day isn’t nearly as easy as it is to care for your skin in the morning.  All you wanna do is head to bed and crash, but, a proper night time skin care routine is a MUST if you want to have healthy, radiant skin.

Using your skin care products twice a day is essential to get the maximum benefits from the ingredients your using – Plain and Simple!

Not to mention that as you go through your day you sweat, you come into contact with all kinds of bacteria and dirt, and goodness knows what else; and its all on your face!  Most of the rest of your body is clothed or protected in some way but your face, along with your hands are exposed to pretty much everything.  No one wants to go to bed with that gunk on their body right!  And of course, it’s really nasty for your skin too because instead of washing that dirt off, its left to penetrate and clog your pores as you sleep.

The same is true for make up.  If you let it sit on your face all day and night your make up will clog your pores and lead to acne and often other skin issues.

Most importantly though, your skin care products have the opportunity to work much more effectively when used at night simply because all you do at night is sleep.  You’re not rubbing your face, pushing your phone up to it, or any number of other things you do during the day that slowly washes off your skin care products.  Instead, the formulations and  ingredients you use are able to stay on your skin longer and, as a result,  work even better than they’re able to during the day.

If you want your skin to be radiant and youthful looking, using your skin care system both day and night is essential and the only way to get the best results from the products you’re using.
