Natural Alpha Hydroxy Acids Are Gentle Yet Effective – Even For Those With Rosacea

Alpha Hydroxy Acids for Sensitive Skin Red Headed WomanAlpha Hydroxy Acids offer a myriad of amazing benefits for the skin, but, today, the AHAs found in the majority of beauty products on the market are contraindicated for those with Rosacea and other skin sensitivities.

This isn’t because Alpha Hydroxy Acids are bad for people with Rosacea, its because these particular AHAs are synthetically produced and as a result they can be quite harsh on the skin even while providing so many benefits.

Natural Alpha Hydroxy Acids are different though.

You see, AHAs aren’t new, in fact, they’ve long been known throughout history to support healthy, youthful skin; and in these days there weren’t chemists or pharmaceutical companies to make them.  Instead, they used naturally occurring Alphy Hydroxy Acids.

Take Cleopatra for example.  She used lactic acid (milk sugar) to improve her complexion and, throughout the years, many other women (and even some men) like her have used the natural AHAs found in  fruits, milk, and sugar cane to do the same

These naturally occurring Alpha Hydroxy Acids are known to be gentle, yet, at the same time, they’re just as, if not more so effective than their synthetic counterparts.  As a result, naturally sourced AHAs can be used and enjoyed even by those with Rosacea!

Unfortunately, with the advent of synthetic AHAs people began to lose touch with the naturally sourced ones and so they’re not always easy to find.  Luckily, though, more and more beauty product manufacturers like Sevani are going back to nature for ingredients, including Alpha Hydroxy Acids.  This is excellent news for anyone with sensitive skin because as we said, natural AHAs will be gentle on your skin yet still provide you with the same effects of reduced age spots and scarring, decreased acne, smoother skin, even tone and more that AHAs are known to provide.

In addition, Sevani goes the extra mile by adding in anti-inflammatory agents such as licorice root, evening primrose and more to our natural beauty products to further reduce sensitivity so that even the most sensitive of skin types can use products like the  AHA cleanser and/or the Rapid Renewal Creme.

So, whatever your skin type – even if its sensitive – be sure to include the benefits of natural Alpha Hydroxy Acids in your skin care regimen if you aren’t already.  They have SO much to offer and can help you look your best naturally.

What To Do When Your Skin Is THIRSTY For Moisture

water for thirsty dry skin Dry Skin.  You may have it year round or maybe it just rears its ugly head during the winter or other specific times, but, either way when your skin is dry and thirsty for moisture you’ve got to give it the hydration craves right away!

If you don’t keep your skin moisturized it will become flaky and /or rough.  Acne and even wrinkles appear worse when your skin is dry too because those dead skin cells build up on the surface and fill in the imperfections making them appear more pronounced.  But, what can you do?  How can you get your dry skin the moisture it so desperately craves?  Here are some tips to help when you’re skin is thirsty.

Avoid Soaps

Be sure you’re not cleansing with soap.  Soap can dry your skin out even further than it already is, and really, its not good for cleansing any skin type.  Even gel cleansers are “soap like” and can strip your skin dry.  That tight feeling after you cleanse is often a result of a dramatic PH change which can contribute to dry skin.  Instead, use a creme based cleanser that’s soap free!  These types of cleansers will clean your skin while hydrating it too!

Exfoliate Daily

Exfoliation needs to become a big part of your daily skin care regimen.  You need to remove the dead skin cells in order for your moisturizer to penetrate more effectively.
We’re not referring to harsh scrubs or mechanical devices, no, they can actually break blood vessels of fragile skin.  All you need to do is massage your skin well when when cleansing to loosen dead cell debris.  Then,  a moisturizer with natural fruit acids that will dissolve skin cells to help exfoliate skin without any harsh ingredients or tools.

Utilize Beneficial Oils In Beauty Products And Diet

Incorporating beneficial oils into both your beauty products and your diet can not only help hydrate your skin but also help your skin hold onto this moisture longer.  Oils that are beneficial for dry skin include Avocado, Jojoba, Olive Squalane, Pomegranate and Argan Nut Oil.  Most of these also contain high doses of Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs), Vitamin E and other vitamins and actives that are incredibly beneficial for dry skin too.

Include Botanicals and Herbs Known For Hydrating Effects

Organic botanicals and herbs known for hydrating effects include Goji Berry, Red Tea, Neroli, Acai Berry, Green Tea, Sea Buckthorn Berry and Amalaki.  Use natural beauty products that contain these special botanicals and herbs at least twice daily for natural relief of dry skin.

If you use even just one of these tips you’ll notice a difference in the appearance of your dry skin.  Use all of these tips posted here  and your skin will be super grateful and definitely thank you with a glowing, healthy complexion so you can look your best!

When you experience these types of stressors, one of the ways your body reacts is by producing more free radicals.  Free radicals can be good things and the body actually produces them to help the immune system fight disease.  But, when your body gets overloaded with pollution, radiation, cigarette smoke, herbicides, refined sugars, and other toxins free radicals are produced too; and these are the ones that can cause problems, particularly accelerated aging.

Sevani lotus blossom extract for age spotsAs we age, our skin changes.  One of the ways it can change is by creating areas of hyper pigmentation otherwise known as age spots.  Although the exact cause of age (or liver) spots is not completely understood, studies suggest that the main source of the spots is related to inflammation brought on by exposure to ultraviolet radiation ie. What does all this mean?

It means liver spots aren’t just something we have to deal with as we age naturally, instead, we can actually treat age spots, and, like everything else,  we can treat them naturally!

Butylene And Propylene Glycol – Two Common Skin Care Ingredients Sevani NEVER Uses

Propylene Glycol And Butelyene Glycol As Skin Care IngredientsToday, there are some skin care ingredients that while commonly used in a wide variety of beauty products available on the market, are still quite controversial.  High on this list -  Butylene Glycol and Propylene Glycol

Butylene Glycol serves as a humectant and is used by formulators to help hydrate your skin while Propylene Glycol is used as a stabilizer and binds products that contain both oil and water (almost all beauty products!) maintain a homogenous constituency instead of letting them separate as oil and water naturally want to otherwise.

On the surface, these products seem great and are of course very useful as far as creating skin care formulations.  This has made them incredibly popular and in fact, you’ll be hard pressed to find a beauty product withOUT Butylene and Propylene Glycol; unless you choose Sevani!

We don’t use either Butylene Glycol or Propylene Glycol in ANY of our formulations and we never will!

You see, several highly reliable sources claim that both Butylene and Propylene Glycol are  carcinogens, or chemicals that have been found to cause cancer.  And,  there’s no denying the list of “possible side effects” associated with these ingredients including skin irritation, contact dermatitis, and even urticaria; the presence of too many mast cells in the skin.

The cosmetics companies that use these ingredients justify their safety by saying that since the FDA approved them and they’re used in relatively low concentrations these problems won’t be an issue,.  Yet, many users, especially those with sensitive skin, often find that products with chemicals like Propylene and Butylene Glycol in them DO cause skin reactions and irritations that would suggest otherwise.

There’s no reason to even deal with “controversial” ingredients like these though when there are skin care manufacturers like Sevani that are 100% natural!  We never include ingredients like Butylenes or Propylenes in our products.  And, in fact, we’ve got an entire page on our site devoted to all the natural skin care ingredients we DO use so you can learn more about how we make Sevani positively pure AND positively powerful!

Plus we’re very passionate about helping people learn more about what natural ingredients can do and, why they want to avoid chemicals like Butylene and Propylene Glycol; especially since there are such fantastic non toxic alternatives!
