Make The Holiday Season Bright For Animals Too By Donating To Rescue Orgs.

Cat with presents for Holiday giving back to animal rescuesWhat an amazing time of year!  There are so many occasions to celebrate the “Season of Giving” – Hanukkah, The Winter Solstice, Christmas, Kwanza.  At times though it can seem that this season of the year has become quite commercialized.  In an effort to honor this special time of year just a bit more authentically,  my family and I have our own special tradition.

I’m incredibly fortunate to have a family that doesn’t desperately need anything.  More important then any material gift for a birthday or Holiday were the pets that my mom allowed us to have.  Our pets were always adopted from the SPCA or via an auction for a good cause.  Supporting animals is the motivation behind Sevani and my long time skin care studio.  We’ve  always been about making people feel better while giving back to support animal welfare.

So, this Holiday, we donate to local animal rescues on behalf of our family members instead of giving  gifts.  My husband, myself, and my mom have spent and continue to spend our Holiday giving back, vs just giving.

We gave some love to the critters at the shelter, made our donations of food, blankets, toys, and the always needed cash – then thanked the staff for all their hard work and dedication to our furry friends.  With what we’d normally spend on store bought gifts for everyone we were actually able to go to several different area shelters to make donations!

Its been a really neat change and will be a tradition we keep for many Holidays to come.

Whether you want to make your entire Holiday season about giving to others like this or, even if you have old towels, stuffed animals, pet beds, can buy a simple toy, or just have a bit of time to stop by and pet the shelter pets -  you can make a HUGE difference in the lives of animals by supporting a rescue in this way.

Also, if you buy Sevani products – you are supporting our work with animals too since a percentage of our profits always go to the animal welfare organizations we work with.

And remember, if someone you know is buying a new pet for the Holidays (or any time of the year) its far better to rescue a pet when so many are desperate to be in a warm and loving home.

Blessings and Happy Holidays!

Adopt A Shelter Animal Today And Find A New And Very Special Furrriend

animal shelter dogI have always had a special connection to animals of all kinds.  Since I can remember I’ve wanted to love and care for animals.   I’ve got a lot of sensitivities (chemical, sensory, etc) and although they can be challenging at times, these are what’s led me to where I am today.

These sensitivities are also what has led me to my desire to rescue shelter animals as well as support those shelter animals I can’t house, along with the humans that work to help them, in any way I can.

I encourage you to do the same!

If you’re thinking of getting a pet, and feel like you have the time, money, and patience needed to love and care for a pet, then visit your local shelter and adopt one of the beautiful animals stuck there.

natural skin care kittyAfter all, its not their fault they’re at the shelter.

Plus, in most cases, those expensive pure breeds already have loving homes; and if not, you’re using your money to support “puppy mills” or another shady type of animal operation!

Instead, visit your local animal shelter and give one of those animals a home.  If you’re really set on a particular breed, you can always use a site like www.petfinder.com or other local websites and find a rescued animal that fits your needs simply by sitting at your desk and clicking buttons!

I’ve honestly had nothing but amazing experiences with all my shelter animals.  They’re just wonderful!  I have several rescues right now and have given a home, love, and care to many more.  I can’t recommend the shelter animal adoption process more.  It’s rewarding, and, best of all, you get a very special new furry friend out of the deal!!

Visit your local animal shelter today and give an animal a furrever home if you can.  If not, then please, make a donation.  Of course, they always need money, but shelters can often be in need of things like old sheets and towels, chew toys, dog food, etc.  Many shelters also need volunteers to help walk dogs or go into the “cat rooms” and spend time with the feline members of the shelter just petting them and playing with them.

Help these dear animals out and support your local animal shelter; you’ll only get love in return!
