Sevani Uses Licorice Root As A Tasty Treat For The Skin

When many of us think of licorice those yummy strings of red and black candy are what often come to mind, but there is much more to licorice, especially with regards to beauty.

Used in Ayurvedic medicine as a treatment for inflammation, burns, wounds and other general skin problems for many years, licorice is very soothing to dry or irritated skin.  These same properties have made licorice an excellent acne treatment as well.

Licorice Root has also been found to reduce hyper pigmentation and other forms of skin discoloration.  And, it has been found to aid in reducing the redness and inflammation of Rosacea gently.

What makes licorice root so effective for skin care?  In the early 1990s Japanese scientists discovered the substances in the herb that were highly beneficial for the skin.  These substances include:

Glabridin ~ Glabridin is an incredible skin whitening agent.  It is enormously helpful in decreasing melanin production and re-balancing the dermal cells.  The Glabridin in Licorice root does all this gently too; unlike other chemical skin brighteners.  These properties help make licorice root ideal for use under the eyes where pigment exists, and is often unwanted – at least in such high doses!

Glabrene ~ Glabrene has been found to be a potent anti-oxidant and appears to be just as powerful as natural Vitamin E.

Licochalcone ~ Licochalcone offers amazingly effective anti-acne properties like the regulation of oil production as well as the elimination of bacteria on the skin. It also helps to soothe Rosacea & acne-prone skin helping to make licorice root the perfect ingredient for calming allergy prone and/or sensitive skin types.

Natural Skin Care For Age Spots

Sevani lotus blossom extract for age spotsAs we age, our skin changes.  One of the ways it can change is by creating areas of hyper pigmentation otherwise known as age spots.  Although the exact cause of age (or liver) spots is not completely understood, studies suggest that the main source of the spots is related to inflammation brought on by exposure to ultraviolet radiation ie. UV rays, not just age.  In addition, there are other factors such as hormonal changes, prior irritation and blemishes, acne and much more that can also contribute to such discoloration which can intensify as we age.

What does all this mean?

What Are Peptides And How Can They Create Firmer, Younger Looking Skin?

Everyone wants their skin to stay firm, smooth and youthful looking for as long as possible.  But, skin sagging is a challenge that all of us will face eventually.

As we age, our skin is depleted of collagen and elastin resulting in wrinkled and loose skin. Non-surgical options are limited to skin care procedures and products, but, what really works?

Studies show that one secret possibility is a newer family of ingredients known as “peptides.”

Which brings us to our first question – What are peptides?

Basically, peptides are chains of amino acids that are less than 50 acids long.  Amino acid chains more than 50 are considered to be proteins. So basically, peptides are portions of proteins.

There are 20 peptides known to be already present in the human body. All of these direct body cells in specific manners depending on the specific type of peptide it is….which brings us to our second question  – How can Peptides create firmer, younger looking skin?

When peptides are used in skin care products like Sevani, the ones selected direct skin cells to behave certain ways such as producing more collagen for example – which will then serve to thicken, firm and tighten skin.

When peptide skin care products are used they should be applied on the neck, jowls and nasal labial folds where most of the sagging on our faces occurs.  Peptides can be helpful around the eyes and forehead as well to help prevent and reduce lines and wrinkles.
