5 of Our Favorite Beauty Foods to Enjoy Daily

Holistic wellness is essential for true health and purely healthy skin.  Regular exercise, proper hydration, all natural topical skin care products and, your diet.

If you eat poorly, you will, naturally, feel and look like crap.  But, if you eat well – feasting daily on fresh organic fruits and vegetables, whole grains, legumes, and nuts you’ll feel, and look amazing!

That said, there are also some foods you can eat regularly that have more beauty specific benefits than others.  Here are five of our favorites.

blueberries, strawberries and blackberriesBerries

Berries of all kinds have many different beauty benefits.  For example, just one cup of organic Strawberries has over 100% of the daily value of Vitamin C; an essential antioxidant ingredient in any  healthy diet offering anti aging properties including firmer, smoother skin.

Acai is another berry packed with benefits for your skin including CoQ10, phytonutrients, Essential Fatty Acids, and more that, when included regularly in your diet, benefit you inside and out.

Tomatoes

Fresh orgadish of lemonsnic tomatoes are always a treat and, because they’re high in lycopene, even cooked tomatoes can help improve your skin’s ability to protect you from sun burn.  Lycopene also has been found to increase collagen production as well as reduce fine lines and wrinkles.

Lemons

When life gives you lemons…be happy and make lemon water because they’re fantastic for the skin.  Lemons help brighten skin naturally and even the skin tone minimizing the appearance of scars and helping cuts heal more quickly.  Also, Lemons are known as a powerful anti-bacterial and is great at fighting acne and other skin infections.

Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Organic extra virgin olive oil is the oil to choose for cooking.  Not only is it an oil that actually lowers cholesterol, but, it also is full of Essential Fatty Acids.  Your skin needs EFAs and they benefit skin in particular in a variety of ways including keeping skin supple smooth as well as protecting it from UV damage.

hot cocoa Dark Chocolate Cocoa

Dark chocolate is very beneficial for your skin.  Not milk chocolate, but dark, organic, fair trade chocolate; especially when drank hot as cocoa.  It’s known primarily for it’s ability to improve circulation which is excellent for your skin, as well as the rest of your body!  It’s also high in flavonoids and has been shown to hydrate as well as improved the texture of your skin too.

In addition to these foods, Almonds, as well as Chia, Flax and Hemp Seeds also offer some major beauty benefits.  And remember, all these foods will give you the most benefit if you eat them in their least refined form.

For example, freshly sliced tomato on your salad is going to be more beneficial than say pizza sauce.  So, just grab a handful of fresh berriess, make some nice olive oil based salad dressings, brew some lemon water, etc.

Another easy way to incorporate all these wonderful beauty foods is in a healthy, fresh, smoothie.  Quick, easy, and filled with raw foods that will help enhance your skin from the inside out, smoothies make a tasty, and highly beneficial addition to any diet.

Now that you’ve got your body filled with these amazing beauty foods, add in some  natural beauty products that utilize these same ingredients in a topical form like we’ve done here at Sevani!  Now your skin will be healthier and happier than ever!
