Truly Natural Beauty Products Just Say “No!” to Sulfates

Words like “natural”, “green” and “eco friendly” have different meanings to different people.  Consumers look to these descriptions for the security that the products are made free of artificial chemicals and will be good for them and the earth.

Unfortunately, many corporations see these as big money making advertising words.  Since there are no regulations regarding what “natural” means when it comes to beauty products, all different kinds of things can be used to make personal care and beauty products yet their label may still say natural.

One of the many funky ingredients you want to be sure to look for, and avoid if you see it, is sulfates.  Sulfates can be found on many product labels under names like:

Sodium Lauryl Sulfate

Sodium Laureth Sulfate

Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate

Ammonium Laureth Sulfate

Of course you won’t find Sulfates on Sevani Botanica labels!  We believe, unlike many other natural beauty product manufacturers that sulfates of any kind have no place on your skin, or on the earth – so we won’t put them in our products.

Why?

Sulfates, mostly responsible for creating that thick, sudsy lather,  are known to be very irritating to your skin; particularly if you have sensitive skin.  Not only that though, when Sulfates are created, they also make 1,4 Dioxane.

1,4 Dioxane is a known carcinogen and is toxic to both you and the planet.  When you use beauty products with sulfates, and thereby 1,4 Dioxane, you expose the largest organ on your body  to these harsh, toxic chemicals.  They’re absorbed from there into your blood stream and are then dispersed throughout your entire body.

Then, after you use the chemical containing products, you wash what’s left of them off.  But these chemicals don’t go away, they get washed down the drain.  While you don’t see them anymore, they’re off  and on their way to the water supply; the blood stream of the planet.  The toxins are then ingested by anything that drinks or uses the water in any way; including you!

Don’t mess with sulfates, stick with truly natural beauty products, like Sevani, that don’t hide our ingredients and would never use sulfates or chemicals like them in our products.  Just say NO to Sulfates and be sure all the personal care, beauty and even cleaning products you use don’t contain these and other types of toxic chemicals.
